Learn to improve population health and reduce inequalities through epidemiology, health promotion, policy, technology and evidence-based practice. Begin with an integrated Foundation Year that builds the skills and confidence needed for degree study.
Course overview
This public-health degree examines lifestyle and health promotion, epidemiology, health systems, technology and global health. An action-learning approach develops partnership working, reflective practice and the ability to apply evidence, analytical tools and theory to population-health challenges.
Foundation pathway
The Foundation Year develops data, research, communication and professional skills before automatic progression to Year 1 after successful completion.
Teaching and support
Students receive support from a personal tutor and use lectures, seminars, workshops, case work, simulations and guided independent study to connect theory with professional practice.
Standard delivery is on campus over two weekdays between Monday and Friday, normally from 10:00 to 17:00.

Assessment includes written assignments, laboratory reports and practical activities, presentations, group work, research projects and reflective writing.

Foundation Year entry
- A minimum of 40 UCAS Tariff points is required for Foundation Year entry.
- Applicants normally need GCSE English and Mathematics at grade C/4 or accepted equivalents.
- Applicants returning after five years away from study, and non-standard or mature applicants, may be required to complete an academic interview.
English language
- IELTS 6.0 with no component below 5.5, or an accepted equivalent English-language qualification.
Alternative entry
Relevant non-standard qualifications, professional development and recent work experience can be considered individually; an academic interview may be required.
