This full-time preparation programme is for applicants who meet the academic requirements of their progression course but need to raise their English-language level and confidence for UK university study.
Programme structure
Published duration: 6 or 12 weeks. The detailed curriculum is organised below by route or stage.
Study pattern
Classes run on weekdays between 9:30am and 5:30pm, with 16 taught hours, 2.5 tutorial hours and around 20 hours of independent study per week.

Assessment
Practical ways to show what you know.
Teaching uses seminars, lectures, tutorials and workshops, with skills work across academic reading, writing, speaking, listening, grammar and collaborative research.
Assessment combines coursework and a final examination, including an extended essay, group research, an oral presentation and a written research report.
Progression is based on continuous assessment and end-of-course examinations rather than a new IELTS test.

Academic entry
- Applicants must meet the admissions requirements for their intended progression degree.
- Applicants must be over 18 years old.
- The 6-week route is for applicants whose IELTS score is no more than 0.5 below the progression course requirement overall and/or in one or more skills.
- The 12-week route is for applicants whose IELTS score is no more than 1.0 below the progression course requirement overall and/or in one or more skills.
English language
- Eligibility depends on the English-language requirement of the intended progression degree and the applicant's current IELTS component scores.
International and non-standard entry
Equivalent international qualifications and non-standard applicants are considered against the current published requirements for the chosen route.

- Completed application form.
- Qualification certificates and transcripts, with certified translations where required.
- Evidence of English-language ability where applicable.
- Personal statement, CV and evidence of relevant professional experience where requested.
