This joint degree uses psychology to explore criminological issues and the influences behind criminal and deviant behaviour. The foundation year builds confidence and academic skills before students move into an equally integrated programme of criminology, psychology, criminal justice and applied research.
Foundation Year
The Foundation Year develops academic writing, research, critical thinking, communication and subject-specific confidence before progression to Level 4. Successful completion leads directly into the degree stages of the programme.

The course uses authentic assessment with no traditional examinations. Work can include assignments, essays, reports, presentations, case studies, portfolios, roleplay, interactive decision-making and a research proposal.
A 40-credit research project integrates criminological and psychological enquiry.

Standard entry
- A minimum of 45 credits at Level 3 completed within the last three years, or an equivalent qualification.
Alternative entry
- Applicants without the standard qualification may be considered with at least two years of appropriate and relevant work experience, supported by a personal statement, references and evidence of experience.
- Applications through a non-standard route are assessed individually and may require a personal statement, interview, CV or references.
English language
- IELTS 6.0 overall with no component below 5.5, TOEFL iBT 80, or an accepted equivalent.
- Previous study in English may be accepted with suitable evidence of the medium of instruction.
