Course overview
This programme examines the complete software lifecycle, from understanding a problem through analysis, design and development to testing, documentation and maintenance. Students build programming, database, systems-analysis, agile-development and project skills while considering both technical and human aspects of software engineering.
Foundation route
The four-year route begins at Level 3. Successful completion of the Foundation Year supports progression into the three honours-degree stages at Levels 4, 5 and 6.

Academic and admissions requirements
- A minimum of two GCE A2-level passes, or an accepted equivalent qualification, in any subjects.
- Five GCSEs at grade C/4 or above, or accepted equivalents, including Mathematics and English Language.
- An admissions interview and/or portfolio may be requested.
- Applicants with non-traditional qualifications, relevant experience or a suitable portfolio may be considered individually.
English language requirements
- IELTS 5.0, with no band below 4.5, or an accepted Secure English Language Test equivalent is required where English is not the applicant's first language.
